This documentary, by DanSan Creatives, reflects on the perspectives of BIPOC with the unrest of police brutality, the murder of George Floyd, and the intergenerational stories that highlight our coming of age 100 years later.
The intergenerational conversation is a part two segment piece that features three youths, three young adults and three elders from the African American community who have lived in the Duluth community for a significant number of years. In this conversation we explore the impact of the 1920 lynchings, intergenerational conflicts, roles, systems and infrastructure. Knowing that healing is necessary we were also able to identify that infrastructural change comes from significant systemic and cultural changes. This experience hinged on bridging perspectives, affirming understanding, building on one another’s experiences and creating a uniting space through intergenerational dialogue.
